Vic: Alleged police evader in court
MELBOURNE, Dec 16 AAP - A man alleged to have twice evaded police, including driving off in
a police car while handcuffed, was today remanded in custody.
Shane Andrew Seater, 19, had also been accused of driving at a detective and pinning him
between a tree and a fence.
Seater appeared briefly in Ringwood Magistrates Court today facing charges including
attempted murder, conduct endangering life, escape, false imprisonment and impersonating
police.
Seater, of Hartwood Street, East Kew, was not asked to enter a plea to the charges and did
not apply for bail.
It was alleged Seater was arrested on November 30 but after he was handcuffed, jumped into
the drivers seat of the police car and drove off.
It was also alleged Seater was one of three people approached by police last Monday while
sitting in a Range Rover four wheel drive.
Two of the occupants got out of the car but the driver allegedly drove off and pinned the
detective between a fence and tree.
Another man and a women, both 19, of Ferntree Gully, have been charged over that incident
and will appear in court next year.
Magistrate Noel Purcell today remanded Seater in custody to appear in Melbourne Magistrates
Court on February 10 next year.
