NSW: Householders warned over storm insurance
SYDNEY, Jan 16 AAP - Householders with storm damage were today warned not to authorise
non-urgent repairs before contacting their insurance company.
While all household policies cover buildings for storm damage, some policyholders would
be forced to pay up for damaged fences and the removal of debris, the Insurance Council
of Australia (ICA) said.
Last night winds gusting to 110kph wreaked havoc across parts of Sydney, the Hunter
and the Illawarra regions, bringing down trees and powerlines and damaging roofs.
