Apple's Online Store Opens its E-Doors in Japan.


Apple Computer, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) today announced that the Company's online store, The Apple Store, has opened it's e-doors for business in Japan at www.apple.co.jp/japanstore. Japanese customers can now purchase the latest Macintosh hardware and software direct from Apple over the Internet, including Apple's best-selling iMac and powerful new line of stunningly designed Power Macintosh G3s.

"Our online store will complement Apple Japan's other sales channels and give our customers the option to order products over the Internet from the convenience of their home or office," said Eikoh Harada, president, Apple Japan. "With iMac already a best-seller in Japan, we think The Apple Store will quickly become one of the most popular e-commerce sites in the country."

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, The Apple Store stocks a full line-up of products including: iMac; Power Macintosh G3; PowerBook G3; Macintosh Server G3; and Apple Studio Displays, as well as Mac OS system software; networking products; and Apple software applications. Powered by WebObjects, Apple's market-leading application server software, The Apple Store is easy to navigate and use, offering customers a well designed and simple online shopping experience.

The Apple Store's debut in Japan is the latest roll-out for the popular online store.
