All Workgroup
server customers who purchased a Workgroup Server after January 1, 1995, along

AppleSearch v1.5, can call (800) 617-1788 to receive a free copy of the Windows

Significance
Both the
AppleShare and AppleSearch Client for Windows software products are designed to
give Windows users an inexpensive and easy way to connect to AppleTalk-based
LANs with the same computing look-and-feel of standard Windows network
application programs. Both of the products provide customers in mixed
workgroups -- those using Apple Macintosh personal computers and Windows-based
PCs -- the ability to access information and work together over a network with
the same ease-of-use that has always been available for Macintosh networks.
Both Windows products come with a network license that allows distribution of
the Windows client software to any Windows-based PC connected to the network.
Included in the
AppleShare Client for Windows product is the AppleTalk Network Protocol Stack
for Windows, co-developed by Apple and Miramar Systems Inc. of Santa Barbara,
California. The AppleTalk Network Protocol Stack for Windows will enable
independent software developers (ISVs) of database, e-mail, scheduling and
other network services to develop cross-platform versions of their
applications.
